Background of Coordinators

Rasmiya Masoud has been performing and teaching Middle Eastern Folkloric Dance ("dabkeh") for over 10 years. She currently teaches at the Sahara Dance Studio and Flashpoints Studio in Washington, DC, and volunteers her time teaching at various middle schools and universities. Although she teaches various dabkeh steps traditionally from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria, her focus is more on the traditional Palestinian dabkeh steps and dance movements.

She formed the DC-Dabkeh Group (DCdabkeh.com) in an effort to help preserve and spread the traditional dance.
